For those newcomers looking to immerse in the PuraVida culture and live in a rural community, I' m selling my property in the San Carlos La Fortuna area. Asking $38.000 . The house is 10 years old. Lot area: 3196 sq ft (297 sq mt.) 46 ft width x 68 ft lenght. Construction area: 1205 sq ft ( 112 sq mt) and made of concrete. Located in Pueblo Nuevo, a small community which is an hour and a half by car from Ciudad Quesada and\or La Fortuna. It has three bedrooms( two of them with closet ), a living room, kitchen, and one bath. There is also a laundry room at the back of the house. The roof extends over one side of the house with ample space beneath that area for two cars, and there is additional uncovered parking space at the entrance. Large sliding windows on the front and sides of the house make the interior bright and airy (see photos). Water is supplied by a domestic well with a 1\4 hp pump, and all of the electrical lines are connected. High speed Internet is available through Claro or Coopelesca. A TV dish antenna is installed so the subscription just needs to be renewed. The title to the house is clear, and the taxes are about $100 a year.
The property is located in a rural community about 11 miles on an unpaved ( but well maintained) road from the main highway to La Fortuna. Driving to Ciudad Quesada takes an hour and a half, and it is a three hour drive to San Jose, or an hour and a half to the Caribbean beaches. The community is rural and most of the neighbors are farmers but there is a school. Pineapple is the main crop, but many people have gardens and cattle so fresh vegetables and fruit are available all year, as are milk, cheese, cream and eggs. The San Carlos river is one mile away, and brightly colored macaws and howler monkeys can be seen and heard near the house every day. There are many other kinds of birds including some of the world's best singers. If you want to immerse yourself in Tico culture this is the right place to be.
This is the old Costa Rica that people have been falling in love with for years.
The Nicaraguan border is 45 min. drive north, and Caribbean beaches 1.5 hrs vs 4 hrs drive to the Pacific beaches like Tamarindo. Driving time to either the airport (Alajuela or Liberia) is 3 hours.
